  1. Post update

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

Victory over Fiji means Wales will reach the quarter-finals if Australia beat England at Twickenham on Saturday. But if Stuart Lancaster's men prevail over the Wallabies, Wales will probably need to beat Australia on 10 October.

But that's enough chit-chat on Wales, Fiji, Australia and England because France are set to take on Canada in Milton Keynes. If you want to know what's happening at stadium:mk, Mike Henson will guide you through the match - all you need to do is click here.

Thanks, as always, for joining us. Bye for now.

  4. Lancaster ready for 'must-win' game

England v Australia (Sat, 20:00 BST)

England head coach Stuart Lancaster summed up the situation nicely earlier.

"It is a must-win game," he said of Saturday's match at Twickenham. "If we don't win then we don't qualify from the pool stage of a World Cup. There is no hiding away from that, nor from where the responsibility and accountability lies."

  5. Sitting on the fence

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

Despite Wales' victory, Pool A is still too close to call - until we know the result of England's tussle with Australia.

  6. Davies shines again

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

Gareth Davies has proved himself an able deputy for the injured Rhys Webb. The Scarlets scrum-half scored a try, made the most clean breaks (3) and won the most turnovers (4) during the match. He also came close to scoring a second in the dying minutes but was denied by a desperate but resolute Fijian defence.

    Gareth Davies
  7. Faletau to the fore

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

Taulupe Faletau again covered acres of grass for his country. The number eight rescued Wales' retreating scrum on a number of occasions and the Dragons talisman made 13 tackles, one fewer than Fiji's Netani Talei who topped the tackle charts.

  8. Fiji impress Byrne

Wales' failure to get a bonus point has set many an England fan on a rambled monologue about ifs, buts and maybes. But former World Cup winner Will Greenwood has his say...

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Matthew Morgan

Will Matthew Morgan start for Wales in their clash against Australia on 10 October? The full-back caught the eye from full-back against Fiji, making 124m with the ball in hand - the most of any player - but Liam Williams should have recovered from his knock to the head against England by then.

Will Warren Gatland switch Morgan to the wing at the expense of Alex Cuthbert?

  14. Familiar look for Australia

    England v Australia (20:00 BST)

    Michael Hooper and David Pocock

Australia revert to the XV which beat Fiji for the Pool A clash at Twickenham.

Open-side flankers Michael Hooper and David Pocock, who impressed in the opening win by providing a dual threat at the breakdown, both start again for Michael Cheika's side.

Australia XV: Israel Folau; Adam Ashley-Cooper, Tevita Kuridrani, Matt Giteau, Rob Horne; Bernard Foley, Will Genia; Scott Sio, Stephen Moore, Sekope Kepu; Kane Douglas, Rob Simmons; Scott Fardy, Michael Hooper, David Pocock.

  15. Joseph back for England

England v Australia (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Jonathan Joseph

Speaking of England versus Australia, England head coach Stuart Lancaster makes three changes to the XV which started the defeat by Wales, with centre Jonathan Joseph, number eight Ben Morgan and lock Joe Launchbury all returning. Here's the team:

England: Mike Brown; Anthony Watson, Jonathan Joseph, Brad Barritt, Jonny May; Owen Farrell, Ben Youngs; Joe Marler, Tom Youngs, Dan Cole, Joe Launchbury, Geoff Parling, Tom Wood, Chris Robshaw, Ben Morgan.

Replacements: Rob Webber, Mako Vunipola, Kieran Brookes, George Kruis, Nick Easter, Richard Wigglesworth, George Ford, Sam Burgess.

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Wales v Fiji

Wales outscored Fiji two tries to one, and Warren Gatland's men could have scored more in the first half had they kept their composure in critical moments. Fiji threatened on numerous occasions in the second half, but Wales were streetwise towards the end.

In the words of captain Sam Warburton: "I was knackered in the first half to be honest with you."

  21. Player reaction

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

Wales captain Sam Warburton: "Our priority today was to win, not the bonus point, and Australia didn't get a bonus point against Fiji.

"Credit to Fiji they played they like had nothing to lose. It was extremely tough but we've got three wins from three.

"If someone said that at the start of the tournament, we would have snapped their hand off."

  22. Wales mark their territory

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

They didn't always have it their own way, but Wales' superior possession and territory gave them the platform on which to achieve their third win of the tournament. Unbeaten with one game remaining and currently top of their pool.

    Wales v Fiji
  23. Unbeaten and onward

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

George North, Jamie Roberts and Ken Owens

That was a big, physical, absolutely brutal Test match. Fiji's fitness and scrum was immense although we had them on toast in the line-out. No bonus point but if you'd offered me three wins from three two weeks ago I would have bitten your hand off.

  24. 'Scrum concern'

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

    Gareth Davies
Quote Message: It was a professional job by a lot of tired individuals by Wales. Thankfully there are eight days to go until their next big battle with Australia. Well done to Fiji. They played their hearts out. Wales played good quality professional rugby but the one concern is the scrum."

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Wales v Fiji

And Wales can breathe a little easier after overcoming that tricky hurdle. It looked as if the Fijians could cause an upset, and do England a favour, but Wales just about had enough to keep them at bay.

  26. Full-time

    Jamie Roberts

Rhys Priestland releases Alex Cuthbert, but the winger runs out of turf and the referee's whistle signals the end of an entertaining match.

  27. Wales 23-13 Fiji

Lung-busting tackle after lung-busting tackle as Fiji recycle and recycle without really going anywhere... Jamie Roberts out of his line quickly. Oof, go the crowd... He earns his team the penalty.. Wales go quickly...

  28. Wales 23-13 Fiji

But James Hook is swallowed up by a gang of Fijian defenders and there's no way the Welshman is going to emerge with the ball. Fiji decide to dash from their own 22 in stoppage time...

  29. Wales 23-13 Fiji

A cute flick from the back of the hand from Taulupe Faletau which sets Gareth Davies free to weave into Fiji's 22.... George North, on the other side, attempts to dance through the defence, but he can't... Wales still in possession, still making inroads.

  30. 'Job done'

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: It's almost a job well done. Wales have stuck to their guns and have done what they needed to do."
  31. Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Jamie Roberts

Jamie Roberts crashes into Viliame Veikoso and Akapusi Qera and the crowd groan in unison. High-impact, high-octane. Wales emerge with the ball... a chance for James Hook but the replacement outside-half loses possession.

  32. Wales 23-13 Fiji

Wales 10m from the Fijian line. Alun Wyn Jones gives Metuisela Talebula the ball but the lock is fortunate that the full-back doesn't have the audacity to run from his own 22. Three minutes remaining.

  33. 'Fantastic defensive work'

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: That is absolutely incredible. Fantastic work...as good defensive play as you will see."
  34. So close

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

That's a big call, a 50-50 in my opinion, but it was a tough call for the TMO and he had to be sure. I thought it may have touched the whitewash.

  35. No try

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

There seems to be a Fijian hand under the ball. "TRY! TRY!" scream the crowd, but it's wishful thinking because the ball was not grounded properly. Rob Howley raises his arms. Wales with put-in at the scrum, though...

  36. Try review

    Gareth Davies

Alun Wyn Jones sets his pack rumbling... Sam Warburton on the base of the maul... inch by inch they go forward... Gareth Davies sniping and snapping around the fringes... the scrum-half whiffs a space down the blindside... he stoops, he slides...  but did the momentum take him over the line?

  37. Finish it off

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

Fiji are just strolling back into position now in defence, Wales just need to keep the ball in hand and wait for the opportunities.

  38. Wales 23-13 Fiji

Justin Tipuric set free by Rhys Priestland and the replacement flanker confidently barges through a couple of Fijian tackles... raucous cheers for the home team as they surge forward.

Campese Ma'afu  messing up at the breakdown and Priestland finds touch. Players breathing heavily after a bruising encounter which only has six minutes remaining.

Dan Biggar comes off for Rhys Priestland

A wry smile from Dan Biggar as he hobbles off the pitch, to be replaced by Rhys Priestland. Cramp ending the outside-half's game. Fiji with a line-out in Wales' 22... a solid foundation for a forward drive.

  41. 'Tiredness, fatigue'

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Rob Jones

    Former Wales scrum-half

    Vereniki Goneva
Quote Message: Tiredness, fatigue...it's all coming. Wales have eight minutes to hang on against a very decent Fiji side."
  42. Wales 23-13 Fiji

Nervous ripples around the Millennium Stadium whenever Fiji have the ball. The men in white always looking to offload, a missed tackle always costly... Fiji playing on Wales' halfway line.

Two players are needed - Ken Owens and Luke Charteris -  to bring down Asaeli Tikoirotuma. Wales just waiting for Fiji to make the errors.

  43. 'Tough last few minutes'

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: There's a few players blowing and it's only going to get tougher these last few minutes. Wales are a very fit side but with such a short turnaround since their last game, it's bound to take it out of you."

Tyler Morgan attempts to overtake Vereniki Goneva on his outside, but the Fiji centre forms an impenetrable barrier. Wales recycle, though, spin it wide... but Fiji's defence has turned into a brick wall...

Ten minutes remaining and James Hook appears on the pitch, much to the crowd's delight.

    James Hook
  46. Safety first

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

Right decision for me. Forget about the bonus point and put Fiji at arm's length with the penalty kick - there's still 11 minutes left to go for two more tries.

  47. 'All about the result'

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: As far as Wales are concerned, it's now just about getting a result and keeping the momentum going in terms of three wins out of three."
  48. Penalty - Biggar

    Wales 23-13 Fiji

    Dan Biggar

The Wales front row pop up, and they're turned by Fiji - but the men in white go over the top... fine margins. Touch or kick? Kick.

Dan Biggar on the 22, left of the posts, he shuffles, he twitches, taps his chest, rolls his shoulders... but the fidgeting outside-half boots it over.

  49. Wales 20-13 Fiji

Jamie Roberts uses his 6ft 4in frame to charge down Ben Volavola's clearance kick... Wales fans inside the stadium revived. Wales with a put-in 5m from the Fijian tryline and Aaron Jarvis is on for Gethin Jenkins. What will happen to the scrum now?

  50. Wales 20-13 Fiji

    Luke Charteris wins a line-out

Luke Charteris firm in the line-out, a firm platform for his men. Sam Warburton appears down the blindside, finds Ken Owens but the hooker puts his foot into touch. Fiji, under pressure for a change, have a line-out in the shadow of their tryline and they come away with the ball.

  51. 'Worrying times'

    Wales 20-13 Fiji

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

    Asaeli Tikoirotuma
Quote Message: You have got to admire the way Fiji have played. They have lost their first two games and are out of the World Cup yet they have given everything here. Worrying, worrying times for Wales."
  52. Game on

    Wales 20-13 Fiji

Wales largely dominated possession and territory in the first quarter of the game, holding around 75% in each, but Fiji's impressive work after the break is chipping away at that advantage.

    Wales v Fiji
  53. Wales 20-13 Fiji

Wales' scrum in a terrible state, retreating at worrying speed and Taulupe Faletau finds himself on the floor, engulfed by the opposition. Tin hats on. Somehow Wales' scrambled defence holds firm in their own 22.

Luke Charteris on for Bradley Davies

  54. What's in reserve?

    Wales 20-13 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

    Gareth Davies

I was sitting here very confidently at half-time thinking it was all over, but Wales are under pressure and the scramble defence we've come to know so well is just about holding on.

As yet, with 17 minutes to go, Fiji haven't yet gone to their bench and I'm very surprised about that. Both sides have players with their hands on their knees and blowing hard.

  55. Wales 20-13 Fiji

Fiji recycle... Ben Volavola to the offloading rhino Leone Nakarawa but he spills this time while receiving the attention of Dan Biggar. Knee-knocking times for Wales, who are facing wave after wave of white-shirted attacks.

  56. Wales 20-13 Fiji

Matthew Morgan into a phalanx of defenders, but he offloads... Dan Biggar with the up-and-under, somehow the ball comes back to black-shirted hands.. but an iffy kick from Wales gifts possession to Fiji and the men in white make the most of their gift, offloading and weaving into enemy territory. Wales fans gulp as Leone Nakarawa goes snorting down the blindside.

  57. Wales 20-13 Fiji

Alex Cuthbert side-stepping in midfield, but the winger is caught all alone, none of his mates were alert to the run and Fiji, again, gain ascendancy at the breakdown. Worrying times for Wales fans.

Leone Nakarawa is unable to stay on his feet in the tackle, and Wales again off the hook and with a chance with a nerve-easing touch finder.

  60. Fiji hitting back

    Wales 20-13

Wales early dominance was born out in their superiority in the stats. But Fiji are much more of a presence in the game now, particularly in their ability to break the line...

    Wales v Fiji
  61. Keep it tight please!

    Wales 17-6 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

Fiji are sensational to watch when they get on the front foot. Wales are getting sucked into an open game and that's not what we want.

  62. Fiji hitting back

    Wales 20-13 Fiji

Fiji are hitting back in Cardiff. This man - Asaeli Tikoirotuma - is playing a key role in driving them forward. Fiji currently bossing the breakdown and are rocking Wales.

  63. 'Wales needed that'

    Wales 20-13

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: Wales needed that just to take a little bit of steam out of Fiji. Dan Biggar hasn't had a bad World Cup so far, he's got a 100% goal kicking return."
  64. Penalty - Biggar

    Wales 20-13 Fiji

Fiji handling on the floor - Akapusi Qera the man who gives Dan Biggar to extend Wales' lead... the outside-half rattles off another penalty for a much-needed three points for a team that's under the cosh.

  65. 'Joy to watch'

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

    Fiji players celebrate
Quote Message: Fiji are a joy to watch. That was a fantastic try. They are growing in confidence and are back in this game. Look at the support play during that move....terrific."
  66. Converted try - Goneva; Volavola con

    Wales 17-13 Fiji

    Vereniki Goneva scores

What a score! Alex Cuthbert misses the chance to intercept and Fiji ruthlessly attack from their own half, Welsh defenders sprawled on the floor and despite Gareth Davies on his back, Vereniki Goneva thunders over the line, with Ben Volavola converting.

  67. Missed penalty

    Wales 17-6 Fiji

Turnover ball to Wales, but Dan Biggar kicks straight to Ben Volavola and Fiji offload with panache. Levani Botia dragging two Wales defenders out of play and offloads to Asaeli Tikoirotuma. Beguiling stuff.

Ben Volavola with a chance to reduce the arrears, but he hooks it wide when it seemed like a straightforward chance a smidgen wide of the posts.

  68. Fine work from Faletau

    Wales 17-6 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

Wales are under the pump at the scrum, but we've got such a good footballing number eight in Taulupe Faletau, he gets it back to Gareth Davies quickly and away from there.

  69. Wales 17-6 Fiji

    Taulupe Faletau

Wales' scrum retreating once again, Taulupe Faletau to the rescue again. Gethin Jenkins mumbling to himself, he's had better days. Surprisingly, Dan Biggar unable to gather the high ball and Fiji have possession.

  70. Morgan makes promising start

    Wales 17-6 Fiji

As we mentioned during the break, Matthew Morgan has made a very encouraging start to his Test rugby career and led the metres stats for that first half.

The ball being sent to the moon and back on a number of occasions at the start of this half, giving players little opportunity to fly.

    Wales v Fiji
  71. Why Why Why?

  81. Job half done

    Wales 17-6 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

I would have taken that all day long, 17-6 at half-time with two tries on the board. Wales have been mostly in control and Matthew Morgan has been incredibly dangerous - Fiji haven't kicked to him and tested him in the air. Dan Biggar has been Superman.

  82. Post update

    Richard Williams

BBC Sport at the Millennium Stadium

Not sure how many Fijians are actually in the ground, but there are a lot of people supporting the team.

The cheer that greeted the demolition of the Wales scrum and the resultant three points from the boot of Ben Volavola suggests the neutrals are on the side of the Pacific Island side.

  83. Wales 17-6 Fiji

    Sam Warburton

Fiji offending at the ruck, Dan Biggar with a touchfinder into Fiji's 22... Sam Warburton putting the ball up his jumper, as they say, as Wales attempt to overpower in the drive. But Fiji are holding firm, nick the ball, and that's that for this half.

  84. Comparing packs

    Wales 17-6 Fiji

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

A couple of the Fijians reckon the Australian scrum was stronger than the England one, so that should be interesting at Twickenham on Saturday night.

  85. Penalty - Volavola

    Wales 17-6 Fiji

    Ben Volavola

Gethin Jenkins having a torrid time in the scrum. The Wales prop falls to the ground, leaving John Lacey with little option but to award Fiji the penalty and Ben Volavola is dead eyed from the tee.

  89. Wales 17-3 Fiji

    Asaeli Tikoirotuma

Fiji turn defence into attack at lighting speed. Dan Lydiate loses the ball in contact and giant winger Asaeli Tikoirotuma zig-zags down the wing... bounces off Matthew Morgan... the men in white are in Wales' 22, the home defence in disarray - but Fiji mess up. A toot of John Lacey's whistle and Wales have put-in at the scrum.

  90. Wales 17-3 Fiji

The crowd singing Land of My Fathers... Alun Wyn Jones as reliable as ever in the line-out, presenting his backline with a honeyed platform... forward the men in black go towards the Fijian 22.

  91. Converted try - Baldwin; Biggar con

    Wales 17-3 Fiji

    Scott Baldwin scores

The big screen shows a smiling Prince William, specs on, red scarf around his Royal neck, and the crowd cheer but there's no time for celebrity spotting because the fleet-footed Matthew Morgan is again weaving between Fijian defenders

Alun Wyn Jones with the offload... Dan Biggar to Tyler Morgan who is held up an inch from the line... Scott Baldwin picks up and wriggles over and the TMO awards the try.

Dan Biggar's twitchy routine as successful as ever, the outside-half bisecting the posts from near the touchline.

  94. Try, try again

    Wales 10-3 Fiji

    Gareth Charles

    BBC Wales rugby commentator

Wales need a couple more tries to take the pressure off, one before half-time would definitely be welcome.

  96. Wales 10-3 Fiji

The TMO is also looking at a potential neck grab. Bradley Davies the man under scrutiny. The lock, blood still gushing from his hooter, concedes the penalty but is allowed to remain on the pitch. Was it a try? We'll never know. A frustrated Warren Gatland slaps his knee, the crowd hiss...

  99. Davies driving Wales

Wales' Gareth Davies has made a strong start to this game, including scoring that important opening try... no sign of that feared injury either.

Fijian hands in the ruck, Timoci Nagusa looks innocently at John Lacey but there's no fooling the referee. Alex Cuthert returns, as does Bradley Davies. Concerns over scrum-half Gareth Davies' fitness but he remains on the field.

  102. Mighty Mouse Morgan

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

Matthew Morgan is so small he's so difficult to grab... Wales just needed a little bit more patience but full credit to Fiji in defence.

  103. Wales 10-3 Fiji

Matthew Morgan, a change of pace, a shuffle of the hips, in his own 22 and the full-back surges free down the middle of the field and into Fiji's 22... Gareth Davies, on his shoulder, is supporting... he goes inside, then out, passes to Taulupe Faletau, who is brought down by Levani Botia. A brilliant tackle, but Wales should have scored.

  106. Wing worry

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

    Alex Cuthbert

Wales can't afford to lose Alex Cuthbert, Wales haven't got that many wings left so I hope he makes it back onto the pitch.

  107. Penalty - Biggar

    Wales 10-3 Fiji

    Dan Biggar

Gareth Davies, oozing confidence, takes a quick penalty but is brought down as he attempts to weave to the tryline, but Fiji are caught offside which means Dan Biggar has a chance to extend Wales' lead from in front of the posts - and that's a free lunch for the outside-half.

Alex Cuthbert departs, Lloyd Williams comes on - two of Wales' starting line-up have left the field already. Whether the injuries are serious or not we do not yet know.

  108. Wales 7-3 Fiji

Wales's backline are set in motion in their own 22... Matthew Morgan to George North, but there's no open road for the Wales wing this time. Barriers in the way... Never mind, Luke Charteris goes forward... but Wales lose the ball. It's open, it's scrappy, is it playing to Fiji's strengths?

  111. Missed penalty

    Wales 7-3 Fiji

Alex Cuthbert isolated as he's gang tackled by two Fijians, which presents Ben Volavola with a chance to boot his team into the Welsh 22 with a neat touch-finder.

Fiji have stopped Welsh momentum and Taulupe Faletau is penalised for interfering in the line-out. Another chance for Volavola - but he balloons it wide.

  112. Fiji power

Wow. The crowd needed that breather as Bradley Davies received treatment.

  114. Wales quick out of the blocks

    Wales 7-3 Fiji

Wales have started well and the stats certainly favour the home side...

    Wales v Fiji
  115. Penalty - Volavola

    Wales 7-3 Fiji

Wales' scrum retreating, Fiji pushing and shoving with the power of eight bears. John Lacey's whistle toots. Fiji have the penalty and there's whooping, high-fiving and a right carry on among the Fiji forwards. Ben Volavola with a chance to aim at the posts, and the outside-half curls it between the uprights.

  116. Ouch

    Martyn Williams

    Former Wales captain

    Bradley Davies

There's blood coming out of Bradley Davies' nose - and it's a very big nose, so it'll take a while to stop!

  117. Wales 7-0 Fiji

Blood gushing from Bradley Davies' hooter, the lock's face making contact with Dan Lydiate's head. Luke Charteris is preparing to replace the Wasps forward but there's no need for the replacement at this moment.

  118. Captain leading by example

    Martyn Williams

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

    Sam Warburton

Good defence from Wales at the minute. You can see what Fiji are trying to do - get the ball wide but there's no real shape. Sam Warburton has made two huge tackles already.

  119. Wales 7-0 Fiji

Fiji shove Wales backwards in the scrum, but Taulupe Faletau emerges from the base. Wales lose possession, though, but are playing in their own half which is perhaps why Ben Volavola opts to kick into enemy territory... Matthew Morgan sweeps up with aplomb, though, throwing an aerial grenade back into Fiji's half.

  123. Converted try - Davies; Biggar con

    Wales 7-0 Fiji

Taulupe Faletau with a quick tap and go... Gareth Davies behind the ruck, he feigns to pass but the poacher supreme dives over under the posts, leaving Dan Biggar with a simple conversion.

  124. Wales 0-0 Fiji

    Vereniki Goneva

Ben Volavola offloads on his own tryline, but Gethin Jenkins is alert and drives Vereniki Goneva backwards, who only just manages to get the ball down inches from the deadball line. Wales with a put-in at the scrum 5m from the tryline and near the posts.

  125. Wales 0-0 Fiji

"Wales! Wales" is the crowd's cry... the men in black needing to use brain as well as brawn to outfox the Fiji defence, but Fiji turnover ball - before Wales nick it back.. a breathless start.

  126. Wales 0-0 Fiji

What a start. Oof. A bone-crunching tackle on Jamie Roberts, but Wales are awarded a penalty for offside and Dan Biggar boots to touch. Adventure. The line-out drive forms... Gareht Davies spins to Dan Biggar... the outside-half opts for the crossfield kick but Ben Volavola nicks the ball from Alex Cuthbert. Another advantage to Wales, though.

  127. Wales 0-0 Fiji

    George North

George North bulldozing through the middle... Is there stopping him? Yes, but only just. The behemoth winger falls 5m short of the tryline. Wales, all in black, surging forward, decibels rising inside the stadium.

The anthems are over, but before the players go to war first a dance. Fiji perform the Cibi (which is pronounced thimbi) - a war dance which has been performed on the rugby field since 1939. Wales' players standing in a line, looking ahead, displaying no emotion.

  131. Warren's words

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

    Warren Gatland

Wales head coach Warren Gatland speaking to ITV: "My message to the players has just been about making sure we don't slip up and waste all the hard work from last weekend. The players are focused.

"Fiji have nothing to lose and that makes teams like them very dangerous. Up front is going to be a tough battle and we need to keep it tight.

"We need to be accurate, and the big thing last weekend was the limited number of turnovers. When we have played teams like this we have allowed them too many turnovers.

"The crowd are going to play a massive part for us. Hopefully we can get them behind us."

    Wales v Fiji

The most recent contest between these two sides was in November 2014, when Wales struggled to a 17-13 win despite playing for 27 minutes against 14 men after prop Campese Ma'afu was sent off.

And there's a warning from Fiji coach John McKee because he claims Fiji have improved since that meeting at the Millennium Stadium.

"We're a better team now. We've got the core and with our work through November and this whole preparation we're a better team, but we know Wales are as well," he has said.

  137. 'Expect a physical battle'

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

    Rob Jones

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: The whole of Wales has been wallowing in the success of the win against England but there is another game to win. Fiji have had an eight or nine-day turnaround to prepare for this game. I expect it to be a physical battle but I also expect Wales to come away with a win. It will be difficult, but when you win a game like they did last weekend it gives you a huge amount of confidence and self belief."
  138. History with Wales

What of the previous encounters between these two teams? Wales have the upper hand - but Fiji's 2007 World Cup victory which knocked Wales out of that tournament is still vivid in many people's memories.

In fact, Wales and Fiji have met twice in the World Cup, Fiji winning in 2007 and Wales coming out on top in 2011 in a 66-0 thumping.

  142. Matthew Morgan the new Shane Williams?

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

It should be easy to spot Wales full-back Matthew Morgan. Standing at a diminutive 5ft 7in he will look Lilliputian in a field full of giants.

His side-steps and change of pace will also remind Wales fans of another small but effective player, Shane Williams.

"One of the best things with Matthew's selection is the fact the whole of Wales can see the strengths he's got and can identify with him as a Wales player of old with that swing of the hips, that extra bit of magic, something different," says Wales forwards coach Robin McBryde.

He had to chop 'n change, he had no choice. Warren Gatland has made three alterations to the team which beat England.

Tyler Morgan takes over at centre from Scott Williams (knee) and Alex Cuthbert benefits from Hallam Amos's shoulder dislocation.

At full-back, Matthew Morgan steps in for the concussed Liam Williams, while James Hook - a late call-up to the squad - is on the bench.

Leigh Halfpenny has been talking to BBC Wales and is full of praise for Dan Biggar, the man who has taken over his kicking role for Wales.

"I love kicking for Wales, It was a dream of mine growing up and it’s been a huge privilege,” he says. “Dan’s doing an unbelievable job and I’m really pleased to see him do so well.

“Ultimately, I’m happy either way as long as it’s good for the team.

“When I get back playing I want to try to get back kicking, but whoever is the kicker, I’m sure will do a fantastic job for Wales."

  148. A knockout team talk

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

As we've already touched upon, former world champion boxer Joe Calzaghe visited Wales' training base this week to give the squad a sneak preview of his film, Mr Calzaghe, and have an informal chat with Sam Warburton and his merry men.

What was the reaction to Calzaghe's words? Wales forwards coach Robin McBryde said: "It was great to have some respite from the rugby and talk to one of the greatest boxers in the world. Tom Jones one week, Joe Calzaghe the next week, there’s pressure on who comes next week!”

  150. Dead-eye Dan

  152. Biggar on the Biggarena

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

Talking of Dan Biggar... the outside-half's idiosyncratic kicking routine caused a social media stir after Saturday's win over England with many likening his pre-kick rituals - two pats on the chest, a flick of the hair -  to 90s dance craze the Macarena.

"I’ve been taking a bit of stick in training. It’s something which I’ve always kind of done but was magnified on Saturday night," he told talkSPORT.

"It’s something that happens when I get a bit edgy and nervous with goal kicking so I just try to get myself into a comfortable position and routine, a bit fidgety and then get set."

    Dan Biggar
  153. Injured but not forgotten

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

'Leigh who?' said many after Dan Biggar's peerless kicking display against England, with the outside-half succeeding with eight out of eight kicks.

But sharp-shooting full-back Halfpenny and scrum-half Rhys Webb - who were ruled out of this tournament before it had even begun - have not been forgotten by their mates because the duo made a special appearance at Wales' team hotel last night to present the squad with their jerseys.

  154. A costly win?

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

But victory at Twickenham came at a cost, with more Wales players suffering tournament-ending injuries in battle. Joining Leigh Halfpenny, Rhys Webb, Jonathan Davies and Cory Allen permanently on the sidelines for this tournament are Hallam Amos and Scott Williams.

As former Wales centre Tom Shanklin tweeted after victory over England: "Anyone who's Welsh and can play 11, 14, 13, 15 please send through your CVs immediately."

A doctor would not have ordered a clash against big-hitting Pacific Islanders as a remedy for Wales' injury woes, but an injury-free victory would be just the tonic for Warren Gatland and his backroom staff.

  155. What did victory mean to Wales?

What did beating the auld enemy mean to Wales fans? A video of Hollywood actor Ioan Gruffudd, posted on Instagram by his wife, "losing his mind" in his underpants after the victory perhaps sums it up. It's happened to most of us at some point or other...

  156. A slip up after greatest triumph?

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

So, five days ago Wales beat England. In a rugby match. At the World Cup. At Twickenham. Run-of-the-mill stuff, really. There hasn't been much written about the encounter so now is probably a good time to sum it all up.

"Muddled England stare into the abyss after Rugby World Cup loss to Wales," wrote The Guardian after England let a 10-point lead slip in their 28-25 defeat by a Wales team ravaged by injuries but stirred to produce what some have described as the nation's greatest rugby victory.

What does it mean for Pool A? If England aren't to be evicted from their home tournament, they must produce the "game of their lives" and beat Australia on Saturday - and hope Wales slip up on home soil against Fiji today.

  157. Hi-di-hi!

    Wales v Fiji (16:45 BST)

Hi-di-Hi campers! After the triumph at Twickenham comes Wales' next hurdle - 80 minutes of brutal body slamming against Fiji's heavyweights.

Fortunes can change. One minute you're on top of the world, and the next... Well, we'll have to wait for Sam Warburton and his troops to fill in the blanks later this evening.

Victory at the Millennium Stadium today would ensure Wales make a firm, confident step towards the quarter-finals. Defeat? The Group of Death becomes a ruthless killer of hopes and hwyl.
