League One high-fliers Walsall have signed Manchester City youngster George Evans on a 28-day loan.

Midfielder Evans, 20, who can also play as a central defender, has twice been out on loan to League One clubs before.

He spent six months with Crewe Alexandra two seasons ago, then spent the final three months of last term at Scunthorpe United.

Tour stunner

Evans scored on Man City's post-season tour of Canada and the US in May - a superb 35-yard strike against MLS side Toronto

He made his City debut in September, replacing Yaya Toure in their 4-1 League Cup win over Sunderland.

Walsall hope to have him available for Tuesday night's League One game at Barnsley, as Sam Mantom may miss a few matches after limping out of Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Chesterfield with an ankle injury.

Evans, the son of former Manchester City physio Ronnie Evans, has represented England at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 level.
