Luke Watson: Jersey captain set to sign for Guernsey FC

Jersey captain Luke Watson will sign for Guernsey FC at some point this season, according to Green Lions manager Tony Vance.

The Isthmian League Division One South club's own rules only allow Guernsey-based players to play, but Vance says Watson is willing to move.

The club were linked with Watson's teammate Jack Boyle earlier this year.

"I would say we'll probably see him in a Guernsey FC shirt this season," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"He wants to come and live and work over here because he wants to play a better level of football.

"He's openly said that the level we're playing at is higher than Jersey league football."

Watson plays for Jersey champions St Paul's, who won every trophy they entered last season and have either finished first or second in the island's Premiership every year since 2007.

"He's a wonderful player, he'll boost our squad," Vance added.

"Will he get into the starting team? I don't know, but he will get games just like everyone else does.

"He's a player that I would hope we can find a role for over here.

"But you've got the licensing laws, you've got the job scenario so that's the only thing that's stopping him at the moment."
