Dorset's Georgia Hall made it a weekend to remember for English golfers after winning the 2013 ladies' British amateur championship at windswept Machynys Peninsula in South Wales.

With Justin Rose's win at the US Open, Hall made it a double success becoming the first woman to hold the girls' and ladies' titles at the same time.

Remedy Oak's Hall, 17, also hit her first-ever hole in one to seal victory.

"It's amazing," Hall told BBC Radio Solent. "I'm so happy, it feels good."

Hall is also the third English player to win the British ladies' title in four years, following Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale) in 2010 and Lauren Taylor (Woburn) in 2011.

"I couldn't believe it when it went in (hole in one on the penultimate hole)," added Hall.

"It was very, very windy, the last day was the hardest conditions so I had to be patient and keep the ball as low as possible.

"I was behind all the way, in just about the strongest wind I have ever played in, but I never gave up. I knew I had to be patient and wait for things to turn my way - and they did."

Hall, who now qualifies for the Open and US Open, says she hopes to turn professional before the end of year.
