Ireland's Bryan Cooper has been ruled out of the Grand National at Aintree on 11 April after receiving two separate bans at the Cheltenham Festival.

He will be suspended for a total of 15 race days and will also miss the Irish Grand National Meeting at Fairyhouse.

He received a four-day ban for using his whip above the permitted level in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.

Cooper, 22, received a further 11-day ban after finishing third on Road to Riches in the Betfred Gold Cup.

His bans will run from 28-31 March for the first offence and his further ban, covering 1 April and 2, 4-6 and 9-14 of April, ensures he will be missing at Aintree, where he could have looked forward to a ride on First Lieutenant.

He declined to comment on the bans.
