Robbie McNamara will miss the Aintree showpiece

Jockey Robbie McNamara is out of the Grand National after suffering chest, abdominal and spinal injuries in a fall at Wexford.

The Irishman has been ruled out by doctors after being involved in a pile-up while riding Bursledon on Friday.

McNamara was due to ride 50-1 shot Lord Windermere at Aintree and a replacement jockey has not yet been announced.

McNamara, 26, was moved to the Mater Hospital in Dublin on Friday after scans at Wexford General Hospital.

Chief medical advisor for the Irish Turf Club Dr Adrian McGoldrick said: "I have spoken to his family and we have agreed there will be no further comment until Sunday, by which time he will have undergone further scans."

McNamara, who rode a double at last year's Cheltenham Festival as an amateur before turning professional earlier this season, was partnering 14-1 shot Bursledon when he fell four jumps from the finish in the first division of the Cahore Point Handicap Hurdle.

Jim Culloty-trained Lord Windermere won the 2014 Cheltenham Gold Cup but was pulled up in the 2015 race.
