Olympics archery: Oh Jin Hyek adds another gold for Koreans

South Korea completed their dominance in Olympic archery as Oh Jin Hyek beat Takaharu Furukawa in the men's individual final to take gold.

Oh secured an emphatic 7-1 win over his Japanese opponent at Lord's to hand South Korea a third archery gold.

China's Dai Xiaoxiang won bronze by overcoming Rick van der Ven 6-5.

Britain's hopes of winning an Olympic archery medal were ended when Larry Godfrey was narrowly beaten in the last 16 by Khairul Mohamad.

The Bristol-born archer lost the first set 2-0 but drew the second and won the third to level the overall score at 3-3.

He took the fourth set but Malaysian Mohamad won the fifth to take the match into a single arrow shoot-off.

Godfrey, who was fourth in 2004, hit a nine but Mohamad scored a 10 to win.

"I'm holding it together at the moment," said the 36-year-old. "When it sinks in a bit later there will be a few tears I expect.

"I went out there to give it my best and I think I did give it my best. I got beaten by a better archer on the day.

"You only have to be half a degree out and you miss the target. To get that far out is nothing.

"This is the best arena I have ever shot in. It's a great atmosphere. I took it down to one arrow and he smashed it, didn't he?"
