Man of Steel: Clark, Roby, Peacock & Hill shortlisted

Clark's final game for Castleford was their preliminary semi-final loss to Warrington, who he joins next season

Castleford Tigers hooker Daryl Clark has been shortlisted for the 2014 Super League Man of Steel and young player of the year awards.

The 21-year-old joins St Helens hooker James Roby, Leeds veteran Jamie Peacock and Warrington prop Chris Hill in the running for the 2014 honour.

Roby (2007) and Peacock (2003) are both previous Man of Steel winners.

It is the first time that four players have been shortlisted for the British game's top individual honour.

The Man of Steel award, decided by a poll of every Super League player, has this year been renamed in memory of the late Steve Prescott. He lost his battle with stomach cancer last November.

The winner will be announced on 8 October.

Clark, who will join Hill at Warrington next season, scored 13 tries in 24 league appearances as the Tigers finished in the top four, having also finished as Challenge Cup runners-up.

England international Hill has helped Wolves reach their fourth successive Super League play-off semi-final, and will be looking to lead his side to a third Grand Final in three years when they face Wigan on Friday.

Peacock, 36, was included in Super League's Dream Team for a 10th time and won Leeds' player of the year and fans' player of the year awards this month.

Saints hooker Roby helped the club to their first piece of silverware since 2008 when they won the League Leaders' Shield.

Wigan Warriors winger Dan Sarginson and Leeds Rhinos stand-off Liam Sutcliffe are up against Clark for the young player prize.
