Jersey Rugby Club have announced their first two signings ahead of the forthcoming National One season.

Flanker Guy Thompson, 23, joins the newly promoted side from Richmond, while prop James Ellershaw, 29, moves from Old Albanians.

Jersey boss Ben Harvey said: "Guy is a real talent who stood out in both our games with Richmond last season.

"James is another player we have been impressed with and whom we think has the potential to play in National One."

While Thompson and Ellershaw are on their way into the club, prop Ross Kenwright and centre Andrew Henderson have both opted to leave ahead of next term.

Harvey continued: "Andrew has decided he wishes to explore other opportunities for the next stage of his career, while Ross has opted to take a break from rugby."

Also on the way out are David Doherty, who has signed for Cornish Pirates, Ashley Elphinston and Henno Venter.
