Moray Low scored the only try of the match as Glasgow beat Edinburgh in their Pro12 match and took the 1872 Cup on aggregate.

Duncan Weir converted three times in the first half while opposite number Phil Godman scored just three of six.

Low's try came as the home side made their extra man pay after Matt Scott was sin-binned for a dangerous tackle on Robert Harley.

The Warriors took the 1872 Cup 40-35 after a 23-23 draw on Boxing Day.

Glasgow, who twice overturned a 10-point deficit in the first match, started the brighter and needed just two minutes to take the lead when Weir scored the first of his three penalties.

Edinburgh were penalised for offside and Weir, who scored two penalties and a conversion on Boxing Day, made no mistake.

Phil Godman had the chance to level things up just six minutes later when the visitors were awarded a penalty of their own but the Edinburgh number 10 hooked his effort well wide of the post.

Weir missed another penalty before he made it 6-0 when he took advantage of another offside decision.

In a tight game, where chances were largely restricted to kicks, Godman made amends for his earlier miss when he halved the deficit on 23 minutes but the lead was soon back to six points when Weir scored again.

With just seconds of the first half remaining and the score at 9-3 Edinburgh were awarded another penalty but Godman failed to convert.

Just two minutes after the restart Edinburgh were back in it when the home side were penalised at the ruck and the Edinburgh number 10 converted his second from four attempts.

Conditions were playing their part at Firhill as both sides struggled to get a foothold in both the pitch and the game.

Godman missed the opportunity to level the scores on 56 minutes but he did make up for it three minutes later from close range to make it 9-9.

As both sides continued to battle to get a grip of the game Edinburgh were reduced to 14 men, Scott yellow-carded for a dangerous tackle on Harley.

It did not take the home side long to make their man advantage pay as they opted for the line-out and Low emerged with the ball to cross over the line for the only try of the match.

Scott Wight missed the conversion but did add to the tally just minutes later to extend the advantage to eight points.

Edinburgh went within inches of scoring a try of their own when Simon Webster broke after a cross-field kick by Godman. Lee Jones collected but it was ruled that Colin Shaw had made the tackle and that Jones was in touch.

Wight missed a penalty with just three minutes to go before Edinburgh claimed a losing bonus point thanks to a drop-goal from Godman.
