Sale Sharks have signed Jonathan Mills from relegated London Welsh.

Mills, who can play as a lock or a back-row forward, is Sale's fourth signing from the Exiles this summer and their ninth addition in total.

The 29-year-old, who captained London Welsh last term, will be joined by team-mates Tom Arscott, Kirill Kulemin and Phil Mackenzie at Sale next season.

Mills, who agreed a new two-year contract at the Kassam Stadium in January, spent six years with the club.

He played 169 times for London Welsh and helped them win promotion back to the top flight in 2012, although their stay in the Premiership lasted just one season.

"Jonathan is an inspirational player who leads by example," Sale's director of rugby Steve Diamond told the club website., external

"His displays in the Premiership last season were outstanding, including a great performance against us at the Salford City Stadium last September. I am sure he will be a big asset to us."
