Edinburgh prop Robin Hislop has been ruled out of action for six months after suffering a broken leg in a training ground incident.
However, the 21-year-old loose-head has been told he will not require surgery on his fractured fibula.
"The fracture will need considerable time to heal," explained the Pro12 club's lead physiotherapist Stuart Paterson.
"Robin will have a tailored recovery programme to suit his specific needs."
