Ryan Jones: Bristol forward ready, says Andy Robinson

Wales' Ryan Jones is ready to make his Bristol debut in the Championship play-offs, says boss Andy Robinson.

The 33-year-old signed for Bristol in March and was immediately loaned back to Ospreys - his club of 10 years.

Once Ospreys could no longer reach the Pro12 play-offs, Jones was free to move to the West Country club and he is now in the squad for Saturday's play-off semi-final second leg at Rotherham.

"He's settled in well," director of rugby Robinson told BBC Points West.

"When you're around him, you understand why he's achieved what he's achieved."

Forward Jones has won 75 caps for Wales, with a record 33 as captain, and has been part of three Grand Slam-winning squads, as well as the British and Irish Lions.

His exit from Ospreys came after their top-four play-off hopes were ended by Ulster's point against Leinster on 3 May - his last game coming two days before against Zebre Rugby.

Jones linked up with his new Bristol team-mates in training last week, but was not used in their 17-14 first-leg victory against Rotherham.

However, he is set to start at number eight this week, as Bristol look to make the finals for the first time since 2010.

"For us, it's great he's chosen to stay with us for the next two years," added Robinson.

"The first thing for him will be to focus on his own game and then secondly, he can bring leadership and experience of being in tight situations."
