Ospreys hope fly-half Dan Biggar recovers from the head injury suffered in their Pro12 win over Zebre in time to face Cardiff Blues on 12 October.

The Wales fly-half, 24, suffered a heavy blow as he collided with home wing Leonardo Sarto early on in the 15-14 triumph in Parma.

He was able to walk to the treatment room and soon after returned to the arena, but not the field of play.

Wales flanker Justin Tipuric could also be fit to face Blues.

If Tipuric recovers from a concussion, he will face Wales open-side rival Sam Warburton, while Biggar could come up against up-and-coming Blues fly-half Rhys Patchell.

Biggar has been in impressive form in the opening weeks of the season, while Scarlets' rival Rhys Priestland has returned from the knee trouble that ruled him out of Wales' June tour to South Africa.

Biggar, who has won 25 Wales caps, came off in the sixth minute and was replaced by fellow former Wales Under-20 star Sam Davies.

Under the sports' injury assessment regulations, Davies would not have been allowed to kick at goal had Ospreys hoped Biggar could return to play.

But the visitors' medical staff's early decision was that Biggar was not fit to do so.

That allowed Davies to kick their first points with a penalty. Davies went on to kick the four other penalties that secured victory.
