Ben Morgan: England number eight signs new Gloucester deal

England number eight Ben Morgan has signed a new contract at Premiership side Gloucester.

Morgan, who has 27 caps for his country, scored three tries in four appearances during the autumn internationals in November.

The 25-year-old grew up in Gloucester and signed for his hometown club in 2012 after a spell with Scarlets.

"He's a key part of our plans and it was very important to us to secure his services," said boss David Humphreys.

"He's been in excellent form in recent months, both for club and country, and seems to be enjoying his rugby hugely.

"Most importantly though, he is happy with the direction that we're heading in and with our ambitions for the club."

The Bristol-born back-row forward has made 49 appearances for the Cherry and Whites and has scored eight tries.

He is the latest England player to commit to the club following the new deals for winger Jonny May and flanker Matt Kvesic.

"Everyone knows how much Gloucester means to me and my family, so I'm delighted to be staying," said Morgan.

"I genuinely believe that there is a bright future for the club, and look forward to being part of that."

Gloucester have not disclosed the length of Morgan's new contract.
