Sale hooker Marc Jones has agreed to join Championship leaders Bristol in the summer on a two-year contract.

The 27-year-old former Wales Under-20 international has made 158 appearances for the Sharks since his debut in 2005.

Bristol have already captured the signing of Premiership winger Tom Varndell from Wasps for next term and have been linked with a move for Bath's Gavin Henson.

"Marc is in the prime of his career," said Bristol boss Andy Robinson.

"He knows what it takes to succeed in the top flight.

"He's a fiercely competitive performer. Marc has got the mentality and leadership qualities to help drive the progress of our developing players.

"To play in the top flight for ten years before the age of 27 is an excellent achievement and testament to Marc's professionalism and ability."
