Ian Morgan confident of Cornwall success in County Championship

Cornwall backs coach Ian Morgan has said he is "quietly confident" of a strong County Championship campaign.

They get under way at Gloucestershire as they look to reach the Twickenham final for the third year in a row.

In the last two years Cornwall have missed out on lifting the trophy by losing to Lancashire, who have dominated the competition.

"We're quietly confident - we've learnt a few harsh lessons from that," Morgan told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We've got three finals to play before that final and you have to win all three."

Graham Dawe's side will also visit Kent and host Hertfordshire as they hope to go one better this summer.

Cornwall beat Gloucestershire, whose squad is packed with Cinderford players, in a tense home match last year.

"Gloucestershire are a formidable task at home and they're a wounded animal from last year when we beat them - I felt we we did a good job on them," added Morgan.

"When the boys go up those steps onto the field they're going to be met by a roar of black and gold supporters. I don't think they'll have as many fans as us."
