Aileen Reid showed promising form ahead of her Commonwealth Games challenge as she took ninth in the latest round of the World Triathlon Series in Hamburg.
The Derry native finished 48 seconds behind winner Gwen Jorgensen of the USA who won in 56 minutes and 54 seconds.
Reid, 32, was with the leaders over the opening swim and bike ride but lost ground in the closing 5K run.
The Northern Irishwoman was 42 seconds behind Australian runner-up Emma Jackson and Canada's Kirsten Sweetland.
Jackson pipped Sweetland for second place even though both were given the same time.
Britain's Vicky Holland, who took seventh, was also among those ahead of the Irishwoman.
Reid described her performance as "decent" although she added that her coach Darren Smith might have a few "choice words" with her following the race.
She was eighth in the previous round in London in May when American Jorgensen also took victory.
The Londonderry woman's season has been disrupted by a back injury and she finished 16th on her return to competitive action in South Africa in April.
Saturday's performance leave her in 18th place in this year's series.
