Aileen Reid secured eighth place in an impressive showing in Saturday's World Triathlon Series race in London.

The Derry native, who came second in last year's race in London, was in the leading pack at the end of the bike stage in Hyde Park.

Reid stayed in touch in the 5k run and came in 56 seconds behind comfortable winner Gwen Jorgensen.

The American replaced Briton Jodie Stimpson as series leader while Reid lies in 16th place.

Sarah Groff was second to complete a USA one-two, with Australian Emma Jackson third.

Reid's season has been disrupted by a back injury and she finished 16th on her return to competitive action in South Africa last month.
