Guernsey cyclists Jamie-Lee Wright and Sam Culverwell won the women's and men's road race gold medals at the 2023 Island Games.

Wright was one second ahead of team-mate Hannah Brehaut to win her third gold medal of the games, with Jersey's Flo Thomas in bronze position.

Culverwell, who was second in the time trial on Monday, beat Saaremaa's Karl Patrick Lauk by a second.

He also won a silver medal in the team event with Guernsey's men.

Brehaut's win helped Guernsey win women's team gold, to add to their time trial team gold earlier in the week, with Jersey taking the silver medal.

"It was great we couldn't have asked for a better result," Wright told BBC Channel Islands.

"It was unbelievable, there's nothing like a home crowd," said Culverwell.

"It really does make a big difference, especially when we were getting into those closing laps.

"There's so many people to thank who have supported me over the years, especially this year when things haven't gone to plan with my team folding.

"This win is for them as a massive thank you for the support they've given me this year and in previous years."
