The spread of coronavirus around the world has impacted the staging of many sporting events around the world, with some postponed and others cancelled outright. Here is how it has affected sport in Africa since it was first detected on the continent.
24 March:
GLOBAL: IOC postpones 2020 Tokyo Olympics until 2021.
GLOBAL: World Athletics postpones the World U20 Athletics Championships, external set for 7-12 July in Nairobi, Kenya. New dates will be communicated.
AFRICA: Confederation of African Athletics moves the African Championship set for 24-28 June in Algiers, Algeria, to 2021. New dates to be announced.

CAF: Caf confirms CHAN postponement over corona.
13 March:
CAF: Confederation of African Football postpones March's Nations Cup qualifiers.
12 March:
AFRICA: Confederation of African Athletics moves the African Cross-Country championships set for 8 April in Lome, Togo, to March 2021.
10 March:
KENYA: All Kenyan sportsmen and women prevented from leaving the country for a one-month period.
ALGERIA: Algeria's football federation announces that all league games until the end of the season will be played behind closed doors.
AFRICA: African Weightlifting Championships to be held in Vacoas, Mauritius, from 13-20 April postponed to 15-23 June 2020.

AFRICA: Africa Senior Swimming Championships to be held from 17-21 April in Durban, South Africa, postponed.
6 March:
GOLF: The European Tour's Kenya Open, due to take place between 12-15 March, is postponed.
FOOTBALL: Away fans not permitted to attend African Champions League quarter-final second legs in Tunisia.
4 March:
FOOTBALL: The Morocco Football Federation orders all matches at all levels to be played without supporters.
BASKETBALL: Inaugural Basketball Africa League due to start on 13 March in Dakar, Senegal, has been postponed.
FOOTBALL: Tanzania Football Federation bans pre-match handshakes.
3 March:
JUDO: Rabat Grand Prix set for 6-8 March cancelled,, external part of the World Judo Tour and set to feature participants from 94 countries.
