When you kick the ball in these cold temperatures, the air in the ball is different. That's why you get the kickers out early and get as many (kicks) in there as possible.

  3. Huge play by Kelcepublished at 22:31 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

Play-off Travis Kelce has turned up! Patrick Mahomes throws the ball short over the middle foe the first down, but Kelce isn't done as he shakes a tackle, stiff-arms another defender and rumbles on 49 yards just short of the end zone.

Hollywood Brown makes a Hollywood catch from the Patrick Mahomes bomb, but the ball is dragged out of his arms by the defender as he hits the ground and it's ruled incomplete.

  5. Field goal missed!published at 22:28 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

Ka'imi Fairbairn is a good kicker usually but his attempt from 55 yards is a complete mess, as it's low and wide from the start and never has a prayer of reaching.

It's cold and windy out there but that's still a poor effort - and maybe a bad call to go for such a long kick there when Houston's defence is playing so well.

  6. Fumble!published at 22:26 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

CJ Stroud has the ball stripped from his grasp by Charles Omenihu on third down but the Texans manage to recover the ball. It's a loss of three but Houston are still going to go for the long field goal...

  7. Big run from Stroud!published at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

Nothing wrong with CJ Stroud's leg as he takes off for a huge 28-yard scramble when he was so nearly sacked by the onrushing Chiefs defenders - but they left a big hole and he really got on his bike to convert a long third down.

He even lowered the shoulder on a Chiefs defender to finish it off too...

Right, Houston back out there and starting with a nice run by Joe MIxon for a first down. Neither side have managed much on the ground so far, and it can make such a huge difference if you can get that run game going.

Andy Reid needs to condense the formation, Mahomes needs help. They can't leave him out there alone. He's on an island.

Houston are attacking the offensive line assignments, they're getting them to slide the other way. Overload situations and get one-on-ones.

Will Anderson is having a day already! They just can't block him as he races off the edge and sacks Mahomes for a loss of eight and forcing the punt.

Second sack of the day for Houston.

  12. Postpublished at 22:16 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

Xavier Worthy was the fastest man ever at the NFL Combine last year so the Chiefs spent a first-round pick on him, and he's showing just what he can do if he can get the ball with space.

This time it's a screen pass and the other Chiefs receivers do their job with some nice blocks helping Worthy to a nice gain.

The Texans defence been phenomenal really. You're going against a team that's looking at a three-peat. Ultimately you've got to leave everything on the line. They're trying to really take away anything Mahomes wants to do.

  14. Mahomes on the movepublished at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes drops back, sees nothing but Texans pass rushers so takes off and scampers away for 15 yards and a first down.

    Typical January Mahomes.

It's something they need to continue to do. They're having tight coverage, but kudos to the front seven.

  16. End of first quarterpublished at 22:12 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

The first quarter ends with a huge hit on Chiefs tight end Noah Gray that sums up just how tough this Texans defence is playing right now.

KC will face a tough third down when we return.

Ouch!published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Chiefs safety Bryan Cook is off the field being checked for concussion, that could be a big loss for the KC defence if he can't continue.

Houston Texans 3-6 Kansas City Chiefs

Hello Chris Jones! The All Pro Chiefs defensive leader comes up big time with a sack on CJ Stroud for a loss of 12 yards forcing Houston to punt.

He's just one of those big play, big mometns guys Jones, who always seems to come up trumps when his side need him. Great player

CJ Stroud goes back to his top receiver Nico Collins and he takes a tough catch around midfield. He's getting great joy with those routes down the middle.

Stroud then fires a quick pass to Xavier Hucthinson again under pressure from an outside blitz, but this time the receiver can't grab the ball - that's a big drop.
