Aleksey Troshkin set a new course record

Russia's Aleksey Troshkin retained his Jersey Marathon title and broke his own course record in the process, finishing in two hours, 18 minutes 12 seconds.

He was nearly two minutes clear of Christopher Zablocki (America), with Linus Maiyo (Kenya) in third.

Zablocki and Troshkin had been side by side for much of the race, but the latter made his move on the Railway Walk in St Brelade.

"It was a very difficult race," he told BBC Radio Jersey.

"I feel good [to have won again]. There was wind from the sea, Jersey is beautiful."

Hilda Cheboi demolished the rest of the field to win the women's race

Troshkin's time was 20 seconds faster than the time he set in 2014, and the course record has now been broken four years in a row. Phil Taylor was the first home runner over the line.

Kenyan Hilda Cheboi, 24, dominated the women's race from the early stages, coming home first in 2:48.24.

Jersey-based law firm Davies and Ingram, with Island Games gold medallist Dan Halksworth in their team, took the relay honours while youngster Jack Kennedy won the 3km fun run around the streets of St Helier in 10:03.
