The former Australia and Parramatta Eels full-back, 27, recovered from the mistake to help his new side to a 20-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

The 49ers chose Hayne for their squad earlier this month but cut former British discus thrower Lawrence Okoye from their roster, who was later picked up by Arizona Cardinals.
