Michael Conlan to make pro debut on Madison Square Garden St Patrick's Day bill
Michael Conlan says he is excited that his professional debut will see him topping the bill at New York's Madison Square Garden on St Patrick's Day next year.
"I can't remember a debutant who topped their own bill. It's going to be a very special moment at Madison Square Garden," said Conlan, who will be joined on Ireland's national holiday by his fellow Belfast man and Olympic bronze medallist Paddy Barnes.
Barnes, who makes his professional debut in Belfast on 5 November, announced on Wednesday that he would also be fighting on the 17 March New York bill.
Conlan plans to base himself in Los Angeles after he moves to the US with his girlfriend and young daughter in January.
The Belfast fighter is set to train in Los Angeles alongside fellow Irishman and world amateur silver medallist Jason Quigley.
Conlan, 24, announced last month that he had signed a professional contract with Top Rank Promotions, run by Bob Arum.
