Becky James hoping to emulate Victoria Pendleton success

Welsh cyclist Rebecca James says she hopes one day to emulate the success of London 2012 gold medallist Victoria Pendleton as she sets out to defend her sprint title at the National Track Championships in Manchester on Friday.

The 20-year-old from Abergavenny won the women's 500m time trial on Wednesday in a personal best time of 34.763 seconds and will compete in three more races, including the team sprint alongside sister Rachel.

Double Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy watched the first day of competition in Manchester and believes the future of British cycling looks in good shape.
