Tour de France: Yorkshire 'delighted' to play host

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, says "it's a great honour" to host the start of the 2014 Tour de France.

The race will start in Leeds and will head through Yorkshire on 5 and 6 July, before moving south for a third stage finishing in London.

The race last visited the UK in 2007 and Verity believes it could be worth hundreds of millions of pounds to the County and leave a legacy to a new generation of cyclists.
