Road World Championships: Marianne Vos retains title
Olympic champion Marianne Vos retains her women's elite road race title at the World Championships in Italy.
The Dutch rider, 26, won the 140km race around Tuscany in three hours and 44 minutes, crossing the line 15 seconds ahead of Sweden's Emma Johansson with Italy's Rossella Ratto third. Lizzie Armitstead, who won Olympic silver behind Vos last year, was the leading Briton in 19th place.
The men's road race starts at 09:00 BST on Sunday with Britain's 2013 Tour de France winner Chris Froome among the favourites.
