Chris Froome: Team Sky urge media caution in reporting data

Team Sky sporting director Nicolas Portal says pundits and experts must be more careful with data and not deal in guesswork and innuendo after releasing Tour de France leader Chris Froome's performance statistics.

Cannondale-Garmin sporting director Charly Wegelius says Froome's lead was mainly built in the first week and scrutiny goes with the territory for a yellow jersey team.

Team Sky's Froome remains in yellow after holding off several attacks by second-placed Nairo Quintana as Germany's Simon Geschke won stage 17 in the French Alps.
