Bethany Firth breaks world record at IPC World Championships

Bethany Firth says she is "very pleased" to set a new world record on her way to winning the 100 metres breaststroke at the British Para-Swimming International Meet in Glasgow.

The 19-year-old from Northern Ireland set the mark with her winning time of one minute 14.40 seconds in the morning heats of the multi-category event.

The County Down girl was unable to repeat that in the final but a swim of 1:15.04 was inside the old record which was enough for the Great Britain swimmer to take victory at the event.
