IPC World Athletics: Michael McKillop had to 'hang on' to win gold
Irish Paralympic star Michael McKillop says he had to work very hard to win his fifth career IPC World Championship gold medal in Doha.
McKillop, 25, has been affected by injury this season and didn't start training this year until late June.
"They were catching me down the home straight. I was hanging on for grim death," said McKillop, whose Irish team-mate Jason Smyth also clinched another world title on Saturday.
"My legs were starting to give way and usually that doesn't happen to me but it shows if you aren't 100 per cent fit, these things can happen."
