Sir Alex Ferguson says Liverpool and Man Utd need each other

Sir Alex Ferguson describes the Manchester United versus Liverpool fixture as the "game of the season", saying both clubs have the most "intense rivalry" in English football.

Ferguson, whose team travel to Anfield for Saturday's clash, external, says both clubs need each other and the Premier League would not be the same without them.

The United boss adds that no-one should write off Liverpool's title chances this season because he believes they are contenders.
