England boss Fabio Capello defends leaving out Wayne Rooney

Manager Fabio Capello defends his decision to drop Wayne Rooney, external for England's friendlies against Spain and Sweden later this month, saying he wants to experiment with different players in the striker's position.

The Manchester United forward, 26, is facing a three-match ban after being sent off against Montenegro, external last month, but the Football Association have appealed the ban.

Capello also discusses the importance of John Terry, his centre-back dilemma, plus how he wants to give opportunities to Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck and Phil Jones.
