Sven-Goran Eriksson 'understands' AVB Chelsea sacking

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson "understands" Roman Abramovich's decision to sack Andre Villas-Boas as Chelsea manager.

The 64-year-old Swede thinks it would be a "disaster" if the Blues fail to qualify for the Champions League, having played in the competition in every season of the Russian's reign.

Eriksson was approached to take over at Stamford Bridge following Claudio Ranieri's 2003 sacking but chose to remain with the national side.
