Muamba 'dead' for 78 minutes - Bolton doctor Jonathan Tobin

Bolton Wanderers doctor Jonathan Tobin says Fabrice Muamba was "in effect dead" for 78 minutes after his heart stopped beating during an FA Cup tie against Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

In an interview with BBC Sport's Dan Roan, Dr Tobin says Muamba was given 15 electric shocks to try to rouse him and describes how he broke down in tears when the enormity of the situation finally hit him.

The club doctor says the "early signs of recovery" are continuing and he has spoken to Muamba to explain what happened to him.
