FA doctor backs more footballer heart tests

The FA's head of medical services Dr Ian Beasley believes Premier League footballers could be screened more regularly for heart defects in the wake of Fabrice Muamba's on-pitch cardiac arrest.

Club doctors will discuss increasing the number of mandatory tests from the current level of just one at aged 16.

But Dr Beasley warns that funding for an extended scheme would still have to be found.
