Robin van Persie will boost United - Michael Carrick

Michael Carrick believes the signing of Robin van Persie from Arsenal will "give everyone a boost" at Manchester United, and the increased competition in the squad by adding a "world class player" can only be a good thing.

United have agreed a £24m deal to sign the Netherlands international on a four-year contract, though a medical and personal terms are yet to be finalised.
