Manchester United's Robin van Persie signing shows 'desperation'
Former Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh tells BBC Sport's Alistair Magowan that Manchester United's imminent signing of Robin van Persie from Arsenal shows signs of the club's "desperation".
The ex-England international sees the signing as an attempt by Sir Alex Ferguson to reassert his authority over Roberto Mancini, manager of neighbours and Premier League champions Manchester City.
United announced on Wednesday a £24m deal to sign Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, 29, on a four-year contract.
