Southampton will learn from Man City loss - Nigel Adkins

Manager Nigel Adkins says Southampton "will learn" from their dramatic 3-2 defeat by Manchester City on the first weekend of the new Premier League season.

Carlos Tevez gave the champions a first-half lead before goals from substitutes Rickie Lambert and Steven Davis put the Saints ahead. Edin Dzeko's 72nd-minute strike brought City level before Sami Nasri's late winner.

Adkins stands by his "brave" decision to leave out striker Lambert and start with Guly do Prado, saying the former would make more of an impact as a substitute.
