Southampton 4-1 Aston Villa: Nigel Adkins on 'deserved' win

Nigel Adkins says Southampton's first league victory on their return to the top flight, a 4-1 thrashing of Aston Villa at St Mary's, was "thoroughly deserved".

The Southampton manager says his players retained their focus, despite being bottom of the table at the start of play, and did not doubt their own abilities.

Villa had taken the lead through Darren Bent, but the Saints roared back with four goals in the second half to earn a comprehensive victory.
