Tottenham 2-1 Newcastle: Villas-Boas grateful for Bale 'brilliance'

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas says the "individual brilliance" of Gareth Bale made the difference for his team, with the winger scoring twice in a 2-1 win over Newcastle.

After Bale's free-kick had put Spurs ahead with five minutes gone, Yoan Gouffran equalised for Newcastle, but Bale pounced to fire home the winner with just over ten minutes of the match remaining.

The win strengthens Tottenham's grip on fourth place in the Premier League, and Bale's brace takes his total of goals for the season to 13 from midfield.
