Garry Monk was 'close' to leaving Swansea City

Club captain Garry Monk admits he could have left Swansea City earlier in the season because of a lack of first-team opportunities following the arrival of summer signing Chico Flores.

Monk is in contention to start for Swansea in Sunday's League Cup final against Bradford City at Wembley after Chico was ruled out with an ankle injury.

If Swansea win, he and stand-in skipper Ashley Williams are set to lift the cup together.
