Beckham, Carragher & Ferguson retire on weekend of football farewells
BBC Sport looks back at a day of farewells as fans around the country showed their appreciation as some of their favourite players call time on their careers.
David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher bow out of the game, while Stiliyan Petrov says goodbye to the Villa Park faithful after being forced into retirement in a battle with leukaemia.
Sir Alex Ferguson and referee Mark Halsey also retire, while goalkeeper Steve Harper plays his last game for Newcastle after 20 years at the club.
