England v Republic of Ireland: David Bernstein in plea to fans

Football Association chairman David Bernstein calls on England supporters to show "total respect" to Republic of Ireland fans during Wednesday's friendly at Wembley.

Bernstein says he is "conscious of history" after the last meeting between the sides in 1995 at Lansdowne Road was abandoned because of crowd trouble.

Roy Hodgson has written to England fans ahead of this week's friendly, urging those attending to respect Ireland supporters amid fears that provocative chanting could mar the occasion and lead to disciplinary action by Fifa against the FA.
