Fulham 1-4 Sunderland: Rene Meulensteen on missed opportunity

Manager Rene Meulensteen says Fulham missed a "massive opportunity" to move up the table after his side lost 4-1 at home against fellow strugglers Sunderland.

A hat-trick from Adam Johnson and a close range finish from Ki Sung-Yueng confirmed victory for the Black Cats, with a goal from Steve Sidwell only a consolation for the home side.

Meulensteen went on to say he would look to strengthen in the January transfer window, adding that no approaches had been made so far for striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The result leaves Fulham 16th in the Premier League table and just one point above the relegation zone.
