Arsenal: Arsene Wenger wanted to sign Danny Welbeck on loan

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Danny Welbeck is the "ideal signing" for his club, but admits he would have preferred to sign the striker on loan.

Welbeck signed from Manchester United on transfer deadline day whilst Wenger was in Rome, and he cryptically says he "would not have signed" the striker had he been in England.

When asked about rumours of a potential ground-share with North London rivals Tottenham, Wenger says while it may work "geographically", he does not think it will happen.
