Dave Whelan: Wigan chairman should step aside - Mark Lawrenson
BBC Football Focus pundit Mark Lawrenson says Wigan chairman Dave Whelan "should step aside" after making controversial comments about Jewish and Chinese people in a newspaper interview.
Whelan was defending the appointment of new manager Malky Mackay, who is being investigated by the Football Association following allegations he sent offensive text messages while working as Cardiff manager.
Whelan, who believes he was misquoted by the Guardian and has apologised, has been accused by Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan of being "a racist".
Both Whelan and Mackay have refused to respond to Tan's comments but have both previously denied being racist.
