McIlroy upbeat despite missing $10m bonus

Rory McIlroy plays down his disappointment after his hopes of a $10m (£6.15m) jackpot are dashed by Brandt Snedeker's Tour Championship win.

McIlroy still picked up a bonus of $3m for finishing second overall in the PGA Tour play-offs standings after his closing 74 left him with a share of 10th place at the East Lake course.

"You need to hit fairways on this course and I only hit three today," said McIlroy, who is now looking forward to this week's Ryder Cup at Medinah in Chicago.
