Newcastle golfer Reeve Whitson thrilled by Spanish Amateur win

Newcastle man Reeve Whitson's Walker Cup prospects are boosted as he triumphs in the Spanish Amateur Championship at La Manga.

Previous winners of the event include Sergio Garcia, Jose-Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke.

"It's great to be mentioned in the same sentence as people like that," Whitson told BBC Newsline.
