English amateur Jimmy Mullen remains in contention for the silver medal at the Open with a brilliant chip in at the 15th on Saturday.

However dropped shots at the 16th and 17th handed the advantage to compatriot Matt Fitzpatrick in the battle for the title of leading amateur at Muirfield.

The 19-year-old from Devon carded a third-round 75 which included three birdies, five bogeys, one double bogey at the sixth and nine pars.
